The senior team manager, Gernot Rohr is likely to use this game as an opportunity to field new players and test out combinations, since the team have nothing to fight for anymore, as they have already achieved their main purpose for the qualifiers.
Earlier today, the Confederations of African Football CAF, cleared Alex Iwobi to feature in today's game against Lesotho, after he tested negative to covid-19. It was reported that the 24 year old Everton's midfielder, had earlier tested positive for COVID-19, from the results of the tests conducted on the Super Eagles squad, upon their arrival in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.
The Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who had earlier today, the 29th of March, hosted the players in his office, took to his social media to share his excitement and also wished the super eagles goodluck:
"I am excited as for the first time in 20 years, we are witnessing the homecoming of our dear Super Eagles as they play their AFCON qualifiers in our state soccer homeground, the Teslim Balogun Stadium, sports is an important part of our THEMES agenda for Lagos. We have invested in developing our sports infrastructure, setting forward a clear mandate and plan to ensure Lagos is the number one destination for all our sports teams, we have also supported the Super Eagles in their journey to this African Cup Of Nations and i congratulate them on qualifying, as you watch the match in your homes or as a guest at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, please cheer on the Super Eagles on their homecoming as we take sports in Lagos to the next level."
