Why Chelsea's Defense This Season Is Going To Be The Building Block For Next Season

This season has been tragically and embarrassingly awful for Chelsea. The West London club has been terrible all season and they are set to get their worst ever point tally in a single Premier league season at the end of this season, making this season their worst in the last 20 years.

Heading into the summer transfer window and subsequently next season, there's going to be a lot of work for Chelsea to do, and it starts from the appointment of a new Manager, getting rid of some Players and then signing new Players for some key areas in the team.

While these seems like an easy task on paper, it's definitely not, especially with the fact that there's literally no positive for Chelsea this season. However, it's not all bad news for the West London club as the incoming Manager can take the Defense off the list of his worries.

Despite Chelsea's bad results this season, the defense of the West London club has been quite impressive. Chelsea has the best defense record in the Premier league season, behind just Newcastle United and Premier league Champions Manchester City.

Manchester City Forward Erling Haaland has been ruthless in front of goals this season, scoring in back-to-back games but Chelsea is the first club that Erling Haaland failed to scored against in the Premier league this season.

The Norwegian National couldn't score in the the first and second leg of the Premier league games against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Etihad Stadium this season despite his mind-blowing Goalscoring form this season. He has scored against 17 Premier league clubs this season out of 19 and Chelsea is the first Club that he failed to scored against.

At least, the incoming Chelsea Manager won't have to worry about defense next season. He's got a lot of talents like Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile lined up for that role next season.
