Lionel Messi

English Premier League club Manchester City have not given up hope on signing Argentine talisman Lionel Messi, 33, from Barcelona in the summer.

The current Premier League leaders will wait until March or April before enquiring about his situation.

Lionel Messi is expected to leave the Nou Camp after his contract expires with Barcelona in the summer and several clubs are interested in the services of the six times Ballond'or winner.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has expressed doubts on whether the Argentine will extend his stay at the club, stating that he was 'hopeful' but not certain.

Lionel Messi will make his position known concerning his future by the end of the season. (ESPN)

Danny Ings and Romelu Lukaku

Ibrahima Konate

Manchester United seem to have reignited their interest in signing a new center back, as reports are now linking them to RB Leipzig's French defender Ibrahima Konate, 21.

Manchester United were linked with his teammate Dayot Upamecano, but seemed to have switched interest to Konate.

The Red Devils are not the only club interested in signing Ibrahima Konate, as fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old. (Independent)

Shola Shoretire

English/Nigerian winger Shola Shoretire, 17, has committed his future to Old Trafford side, Manchester United, by signing his first professional contract with the club.

The length of the deal has not been disclosed by the club, but it came after he scored a hat-trick against Blackburn Rovers in their 6 - 4 win on Friday for the U23 side.

The player is a product of United's academy and has been an integral part of their campaign this season, scoring 5 goals and making 3 assists in 13 appearances so far.

The talented 17-year-old snubbed several interest from top European clubs - PSG, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich - to remain at Old Trafford. (Mail)

David Alaba

Chelsea have made their position known concerning Bayern Munich's Austrian defender David Alaba, 28, whose contract with the German club is set to expire by the end of the season.

Alaba is said to be demanding a huge £400,000-a-week wages and the Blues will only make a move on the defender if he lowers his wage demands. (Telegraph - subscription required)
