According to a study conducted by Professor Enter Derrick Wirtz of the University of British Columbia in Okanagan, Canada, he discovered that people who regularly visit social giants like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are less happy than those who don't.
The professor revealed that people who regularly visit social media to view images and updates that selectively portray others positively. They see superstars like Davido or Wizkid livingly a fairy tale lives or those of their friends, neigbours or relatives which might be in contrast with their own living standard.
After they're done viewing pictures or videos they feel empty inside and begin to question the essence of live. Its important to regulate your social media intake so as to remain happy and not always sad or emotional brokedown.
Secondly, social media reduces face to face socializing and replace it with online interaction which is believed to result in low quality relationship with other people. Normal relationship are then replaced with online friends who they may or may never meet. Its important to spend less time on social media and interact more openly with people.
Thirdly, People who spend more time on the internet mostly come across trolls or cyber bullies whose aim is to make you feel bad. Constantly bullying can lead to depression.
