Our homes are filled with electrical appliances designed to make our lives easier and more convenient, so that we have more time to pursue more rewarding activities.
We don’t need to wash our clothes by hand or hope for sunlight to dry them. We don’t need to spend hours preparing and cooking meals, only to spend another hour washing all the dishes afterwards. We have the modern convenience of electric lights, hot running water, and hygienically chilled food storage.
However, as you fill your homes with convenient appliances, be aware that many of these modern conveniences will be broken at some points, and when this happens, dont panic. Now read through
What’s wrong with it? That’s the first big question in fixing broken things. Any faulty things! It doesn’t matter whether you need door bell repair, toy repair, fan repair, blender repair or computer printer repair and the likes. You can repair stationary things, mechanical things, electrical things, and hybrid things. Figuring out what’s wrong with it is the most important task. Once you know what’s wrong with it, you’re well on the way to repairing it. Figuring out what’s wrong with something may sound obvious, but it’s often the step that keeps us from fixing things easily.
Troubleshooting is a problem-solving process with the goal of returning an item to its as-designed state. The item doesn’t work at all, doesn’t work correctly, doesn’t work efficiently, or doesn’t stop working. You can fix anything if you know how to troubleshoot it. And you can troubleshoot if you understand how an item works and how to figure out why it doesn’t work. Here are basic things you need to know before you can attempt to repair anything:
What does it do ?
How does it perform this function ?
What is it not doing that it should do ?
What is the possible cause(s)of the problem ?
How to reach the broken area(s) without causing further damaeg
What parts and tools do I need to fix it ?
Knowing these, you are half-way throguh.
For example, an electric tea maker, obviously, is an apparatus for making tea. A tea maker is designed to heat water then pump it to drip through the tea basket and into a carafe. Most tea makers also keep the tea warm. That’s a tea maker's as-designed state; that’s what it’s supposed to do. What does it not do? Fron the example, the tea maker doesn’t keep the tea hot, though everything else works. Knowing how a tea maker is supposed to work, you will identify the problem to be within the warming element or controls. To check it you need a multimeter for testing these components. Then, following the specific steps from the manuals or looking online for this type of tea maker's Guide, you disassemble, test carefully, and, if needed, replace the part(s). Finally, you can have some tea and know that it will stay warm.
So, that’s the basic process. You can apply it to everything that’s broken or faulty. It’s a simplified version of a time-tested problem-solving system. Now you have the idea on how to repair anything, the more you do, the better you are at it and saving time in the process.
