There are many parody accounts for most influential Twitter users, but the verified tick increases the sense of comfort of the authenticity of whatever news or content that is being shared through that account.
But that wasn't the case tonight, as Bitcoin scammers proved themselves. Major Twitter accounts including that of Elon Musk, (CEO of SpaceX), Bill Gates, (CEO of Microsoft), Joe Biden, US presidential candidate, American rapper, Kanye West, Apple and Uber were not left out and some top crypto accounts, e.g Coinbase, Binance and Gemini were also used to promote the Bitcoin scam.
The scammers decieved people via their verified account that they want to give back to the society or their fans, as the case may be. Stating that all Bitcoin sent to an aforementioned address in the infamous tweet would be sent back doubled.
Apparently, the whole idea was catchy and most people couldn't ignore, ergo fell victim for the bait. Here is a copy of the tweet below:
