How To Take Better Pictures With Your Android Phone

In one of my articles, I wrote about 7 Factors You Should Consider Before Buying Any Android Phone and one of the factors I mentioned is the CAMERA

Everybody wants a phone that takes great pictures but unfortunately for most of us, our budget is too low to afford the super expensive iPhones and Samsung phones. Though we can in one way or another, get good and sharp pictures that is social media worthy.

But first, I want to explain the three things that determines the quality of your pictures.

1. The Shutter Speed

2. ISO

3. Aperture

ISO is your camera's sensitivity to light, Shutter Speed is the length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light while the Aperture controls the brightness of the image that passes through the lens and falls on the image sensor.

Let us do some exercise, snap a picture, open the picture, then click on details/properties of the picture, you'll see something like thisthe F/2.0 is the aperture of the picture, 1/5102 is the shutter speed and ISO116 is the ISO.

Because your phone is an automatic camera (point and shoot) it senses the light that is available at the moment and automatically selects the necessary Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed.

See it like this, in low light conditions (in a dark environment) the phone will increase the ISO, Lower the shutter speed and Aperture. So every picture you are taking that time will be blurry if you don't hold your phone steady.

FIRST TIP

When you are snapping in a dark environment, hold your phone steady with your two hands and snap gently. Any movement from your hand will result in a blurry and less sharp image.

In a very bright sunlight though, your phone will adjust to a better Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed. But you still have to hold your phone steady to get a better shot

SECOND TIP

Don't face your camera Towards the source of the light, it will spoil the picture. Rather, back the source of the light.

NB: The source can be the sun, electric bulb or anything else that brings light.

Let us take a look at the picture below>>>This picture was taken with the lens(camera) facing the source of the light. Which in this case, is the sun.

Now let us look at our second picture>>>

This picture was taken behind the sun. The lens(camera) was not facing the sun.

We can all agree that there is a huge difference between the two pictures.

THIRD TIP

When you are snapping pictures with your phone do not stay far way from your subject. I see a lot of People stay far off from the person they are snapping.

Let us take a look at these two pictures>>>

You will agree with me that the second picture really made a lot difference. It looks so much better, sharper and clearer.
