Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport is the oldest Airport in Nigeria and the first aircraft landed in Nigeria was landed in Kano in 1922, with operations starting in 1936.

The old terminals was first used as a Royal Air Force station before the Nigeria became independent.

Been an economy hub of the Northern Nigeria, a Construction started on a new domestic terminal to accommodate the international terminal and was commissioned on 23 May 2011.

The New Terminal

As part of effort to upgrade the 5 international Airports in Nigeria to a global standard, The Aviation ministry begins the construction of new terminals across selected Airports in 5 regions of the country, while Port Harcourt and Abuja Airports are completed and in used, works on kano new terminals have been completed.

Mallam Aminu International Airport seems to be the latest in the country as the new terminal is open to for international flights and will soon be Commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Commercial and other forms of economic activities in Kano, northern Nigeria biggest market, is expected to scale up in the coming days, after the completion of construction work at the new international terminal developed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
