Asmodeus or Asmodai (Hebrew:‎ Ashmedai) is a ruler of evil spirits for the most part known from the deuterocanonical Book of Tobit, in which he is the essential rival.

In the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy, Asmodai is delineated with the bosom of a man, chicken legs, snake tail, three heads (one of a man spitting fire, one of a sheep, and one of a bull), conveying a norm and a spear and riding a lion with mythical beast wings and neck, these creatures being related with either hate, lust or revenge.

As indicated by demonologists, Asmodeus had the option to uncover to men the concealed treasures and fortunes of the mother earth (nature or universe), other than enabling them to become invisible. At the point when one exorcises him, one must be courageous and call him by name. He gives rings reshaped by galactic bodies (stars), advises men on making themselves invisible, and educates men in the specialty of geometry, math, astrology, and mechanical arts. He likewise is known to possess fortunes.

He was assumed by some Renaissance Christians to be the King of the Nine Hells. He is the destroying demon and administrator of the gaming or betting houses. He may be also the equivalent of Samael.

Asmodeus additionally is alluded to as one of the seven kings of Jinnestan. In Binsfeld's characterization of devils, every single one of these rulers governs one of the seven deadly sins (Pride, Lust, Envy, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Wrath).
