Mystery Of Mawsynram: Mysterious Village Where It Never Stops Raining

Crowned as the wettest place on earth, the village of Mawsynram is a nature's lovers dream and it's the best place to witness high pleasure when it rains. Meteorologist believe that Mawsynram location place a huge part in the village receiving high amount of rainfall. 

Moisture gathers over bay of bengal which causes precipitations over Mawsynram leading to a heavy and very long monsoon season.

The rain are so intense in Mawsynram that the villagers use thick grass to soundproof their huts from the defining rain, the village is most famous for gigantic formation of a stalenmite which resembles the shape of a shipling.

Mawsynram is situated at an altitude of 1400 meters, beautiful waterfalls and lush green lands make up for the landscape.

The people of Mawsynram spend months preparing for the wet season as it has become a ritual for them to buy and stock up for the rains, as it becomes highly difficult to leave their homes to go shopping for food when the rain kick in. 

The women of Mawsynram use rain covers known as schnapps, which is made using bamboo slivers, plastic sheet and green grass to create a rain shield that resembles a turtle shell, which is then worn on the head. The lumps are large enough to keep the rain from touching the body from the face down to knees.

The best time to visit Mawsynram is between the month of September and November as the rainfall is less during these two months and the whether is absolutely pleasant.

However if you want to enjoy the rain and witness the bruth force of nature then the raining season is the best time to visit Mawsynram.
