Fayose On Okada In Ikeja: A Light Rail Or Improved Transit Could Solve The Problem Of Lagos Traffic

When people say Lagos traffic is no respecter of anyone, it is true. This is because anybody can stay in traffic for hours without getting to their destination in time. According to a post by a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, he had to take Okada to Ikeja to avoid missing my flight. Although, the traffic problem is because of the metro line being constructed around Ikeja-Along and Computer-Village end of Awolowo Way so more motorists going towards Agege, Iyana-Ipaja, Ogba etc now use local Airport road to beat the traffic from Oshodi.

That is why Okada shouldn't be banned in Lagos. It has saved many people their jobs, interview appointments, and all. They should be regulated instead. Many Nigerians have suggested that there is no reasonable explanation to justify the ban of smart rides like Opay rides. Through apps, you can book a ride, and no matter how remote your location, the bike will come and pick you up to your destination with a full kit and head protector. There's no smarter way to move around in Lagos than this.

The government should look into the ban on Okada or look for a way to reduce Lagos traffic. It is a fact thousands of Lagosians have loose their jobs because of the traffic problem. The government should provide busses and mono-rail that will ply all areas in Lagos like it is down in developed countries. Just imagine, that there is no Okada at all in Lagos, Fayose would have missed the flight to wherever he was hurriedly going to. A light rail system or monorail system connecting critical areas in Lagos would have been the best option to reduce the traffic on the road and improve transit would have solve the problem
