When talking about some of the most developed countries in the world today, The East Asian country Japan will surely be on the podium of recognition. Japan is arguably the fastest growing country in Asia in terms of infrastructure, economic, and human development.

When we think of Japan,Tales of samurai, old temples, the tea ritual, kabuk etc may come to our mind, that's all true but Japan is also home to a lot of stunning architectural designs and jam dropping structures.

The Japanese are not to be messed with when it comes to architectural marvels, from the Skytree Tower in Tokyo to the Great Buddha Hall In Nara to the Yokohama Landmark Tower etc. Japan is a country full of bizarre architectural designs and marvel.

Without much words, In this article I will be showing you the Hanshin Highway In the Japanese city of Osaka that runs through the middle of a skyscraper.

The Hanshin Highway was opened in 1962 and was designed by some group of renowned Japanese engineers, The 239kilometer highway connects the Japanese cities of Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto. The most interesting part of the highway is that, a section of it runs through the middle of a skyscraper(The Gate way Tower).

The Gate Way Tower is a 16 storey office building in Osaka, The Hanshin highway runs through its 5th,6th and 7th floors. This magnificent idea was as a result of disagreement between the land owner and the Japanese government.

The Gate way Tower was already existing and the government needed to construct an highway that would ease traffic in the city, unfortunately the tower was on the path of the highway. The owners refuse to budge their building and this required some innovative thinking on the side of the engineers constructing the highways and the solution resulted to one of the stranger looking piece of engineering marvel in the world.
