Here's how Cally Air staff escaped mop action in Calabar.

There was a commotion on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar after an unscheduled flight cancellation by Cally Air.

THE PARADISE gathered that the passengers were furious as they didn’t get any notice of flight cancellation prior to their trip to the airport.

Sources said the Staff were locked in a safe room to make sure they are not being lynched by the angry passengers who requested for flight and hotel accommodation refund.

In a video published by CrossRiverWatch, the aggrieved passengers were seen clamouring at the booking counter in the airport.

“Please, just lineup, your money is going to be refunded. It is very unfortunate. Cally Air, since it started, it has never done this”, an Aviation Security Officer at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport said.

Meanwhile, on Monday morning, Mr Christian Ita, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Ben Ayade, while responding to social media (Facebook) comments about the incident said flight cancellation is nothing new.

“Flight cancellation is nothing new. It happens all the time even in the developed world. Recently, the Federal Government reeled our penalties against the cancellation of flights. You don’t impose penalties on an issue that does not exist. Let’s stop shaming ourselves because of politics”, Ita said while responding to a Facebook post by Iwara U. Iwara.

Cally Air is a Cross River State Government Airline run by Aero Contractors. The airline operates the Calabar-Lagos and Calabar-Abuja routes with two Boeing 737.
