5 African countries that are difficult for Nigerians to get into and why it calls for worry

Although Nigeria is famously referred to as the giant of Africa, but the Nigerian passport is not exactly the highest ranking passport in Africa.

There are a good number of African countries (over 17) Nigerians enjoy privileges of traveling to without stress, but there are also quite a number of African countries whose travel processes are a bit more intense.

You are likely to get rejected if you plan to travel to any of these African countries as a Nigerian, due to certain factors.

1. Libya

In 2018, the Libyan government discovered how Nigerians travel through the desert to get to Libya, so they can migrate to Europe. This is one reason why Nigerians who want to travel to Libya are mostly rejected.

2. South Sudan

Unlike some African countries who offer visa-on-arrival for Nigerians, South Sudan don't.

You will have to visit the embassy and apply for a visa like any other foreigner, due to unknown factors.

You will also likely get rejected if you don't have appropriate documents or reason for travel.

3. Botswana

Botswana is famous for wildlife experiences in the Southern part of Africa. As a Nigerian, you need to apply for a tourist visa.

In fact, on their official website, they listed a number of countries who must apply with their visa, and Nigeria is not left out.

It reads “All Citizens of Commonwealth countries do not require visa except those from Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.”

4. Swaziland

Swaziland is a small country in South Africa, but among list of countries that do not require a visa to travel to Swaziland, Nigeria is not one of them. You need to apply for a tourist visa at their embassy.

5. Namibia

Namibia has developed it's country to the extent other African countries want to explore.

However, as a Nigerian traveller, we can’t say the process is exactly easy, due to certain factors, Nigerians are not allowed into the country without complete document, even at that, you may still get rejected.

This should call for worry because it speaks ill about Nigerians.

I feel one of the reasons why so many of these countries do not allow Nigerians into their country so easily is because, some of us have given the country a bad reputation in the international world.

Nigerians are seen as people who are heavily into crimes, drugs and internet fraud, and this is not a good development.

If we stay away from crimes, drugs and internet scam, just maybe a lot these countries would begin to let us come in freely into their country.

What are your thoughts?
