Nigerian States And Their Slogans

The slogans of Nigerian states were given due to either the landmarks, the people’s way of life or any other feature which distinctly distinguishes it from any other state in the country.

Some of these slogans are spot on and undebatable, while others are questionable.

For example, the Oyo state is undeniable the pace setter state. They set the pace for many things in the country and are known to be home of many firsts. The first university is located in Oyo state as well as the first TV station and the first Stadium.

Another example is the Ogun state, which is known as the gateway state. In the past, Lagos state was the capital of Nigeria and it has always been bordered by Ogun state. One cannot access Lagos state from either sides without first passing through Ogun state, hence, the gateway state.

Enugu is the coal city state because Coal was first discovered and mined in large quantity in the state.
