According to reports, explosives were laid on the railway by the bandits. And it was also reported that Senator Shehu Sani was on a train that was also attacked by bandits.

Senator Shehu Sani has confirmed that the train he boarded this morning ran over explosive damaged railings. The Explosives were said to have been planted by bandits. It could be recalled that yesterday, bandits had attacked a Kaduna-Abuja Train with explosives. Sani stated that between Dutse and Rijana, the Bandits had opened fire on the train, while targeting the driver and the tank but the driver was able to move up the Kaduna Rigasa Station.
All services on the Abuja-Kaduna route has been stopped by the Nigeria Railway Corporation because of the blast on the train track around Rijana and Dutse in Kaduna State on Wednesday. The managing Director, NRC, Fidet Okhiria, who confirmed the blast, said that services on the route had to be halted in order to carry out thorough investigations on the matter.
