The PUNCH learnt that the ill-fated aircraft crashed at the airport’s runway about 6 pm. Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria, Akin Olateru, confirmed that the eight souls died onboard.
According to news report, the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB - N) that was mandated by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to investigate the plane crash in Kaduna, have recovered the Black Box from the plane. The crash which happened two days ago, took 11 lives with it including Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, the flight crew and some top military aides.
According to fresh information from the Nigerian airforce, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) is set to commence investigations on the ill-fated military flight, the Beechcraft 350 aircraft which crashed recently. In a statement issued on Saturday 22 May, 2021, Tunji Oketunbi, AIB-N General Manager for Public Affairs, said the Bureau have commenced investigation into the crash. Oketunbi said the aircraft's Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have been recovered for investigation.
