Ilorin the capital of Kwara state has been thrown into pandemonium as youths decried the increment in the cost of Cannabis sativa, popularly known as "igbo" or "weed". Youths in Alore town went berserk, destroying properties while calling on sellers of the banned substance to bring down the price and hoping somehow the federal government will legalize the sale of Cannabis. The secretary of state of the Christian Association's of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Olusola Ajolore, was pained by the recent activities of the youths.
Affected elders in Ilorin worry about the alleged increase in crime rate in the ancient city of Ilorin, Kwara. This development was caused by outbreaks of hostility among young people in the Alore region, which was associated with alleged increases in purchasing cannabis sativa, Igbo or weed in the region. The protesting youths,some of whom had left two days ago, registered their anger by destroying unsuspecting residents' property that allegedly was seduced by drug dealers to cut costs.
