Recently, the Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa local government area in Plateau State has become a constant name in the media. This is undoubtedly due to the wave of attacks and killings in the Chiefdom. It should be recalled that a couple of days ago, it was reported that Irigwe Christian militia attacked and killed about 25 Muslim commuters along the Rukuba Road within the Jos North local government of the state.
Plateau State, which prides itself as the home of peace and tourism in Nigeria, has recently become a haven for barbaric attacks and wanton killings. It should be recalled that not long ago, there was a surge of attacks and killings in different parts of the state.
Due to the recent attacks and killings in Plateau, the people of the state are not at rest. Despite the 24 hours curfew imposed in Jos North, and dusk to dawn curfew in Jos South and Bassa local governments areas, there is still tension in the state, citizens are scared of being attacked a second time.

Confirming the incident, the National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Mr Davidson Malison, said: “The attackers came around 3:00Am, as three persons on a motorcycle were ambushed along Twin Hill Road, Jebbu Miango, Miango District, of Bassa LGA, where two of them were killed instantly and one sustained gunshot injuries on their way from Jebbu Miango to Miango community.

The chiefdom which is home to Christians came under serious criticism when it was reported a couple of days ago that its armed militia attacked and killed about 22 Fulani Muslim commuters along the Rukuba Road within Jos North local government area of Plateau State.
The recent wave of attacks and killings in Plateau state are no longer a secret to the public. It should be recalled that in recent times, the state has experienced several cases of attacks and killings by gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen. The surge of attacks in the state has claimed several lives, with properties worth millions of Naira destroyed in the process.
The outbreak of the crisis in Jos, Plateau State over the years is a common phenomenon. The Crisis was experienced first in the year 2021 and brought about the loss of life and property. Subsequently, in Jos North, Bassa, and Jos South local government area, the crisis has become a natural occurrence.
