The Gate Built By King Nebuchadnezzar In Babylon (Present-Day Iraq), About 575 BC

The Ishtar gate was constructed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II circa 575 BCE. It was the eighth gate of the city of Babylon (in present-day Iraq) and was the main entrance into the city. What you see now is a reconstruction of the Ishtar Gate and Processional Way built at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, out of material excavated by Robert Koldewey.
