How 140 internet fraudsters were picked up by EFCC in five cities within seven days
A total of 140 internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Boys were arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in five cities within seven days between Friday, May 19 and Friday, May 26, 2023. While 29 of the internet fraudsters were arrested in Lagos, 12 were picked up in Kano, 45 were held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, 44 were arrested in Benin, Edo State and 10 were also held in Enugu, the Enugu State capital, during what the operatives described as "sting operations" carried out early in the morning.
