Following an ambush, bandits reportedly killed five vigilantes and injured one at Udawa community in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State. The vigilantes' Hilux was attacked by bandits at Birnin Gwari Road about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday while they were returning from Kaduna to Udawa. “Bandits assaulted the vigilantes' vehicle along Birnin Gwari Road, they were eight in number, the bandits killed five, injured one, and two escaped,” said Alhaji Hussain Iliyasu, the head Imam of the Udawa village, who verified the death to newsmen.

On Thursday, June 17, armed bandits attacked the Federal Government College, Birnin Yaura in Kebbi state, killed a police officer and kidnapped some people including students and staff of the school. Daily Trust reported that the bandits stormed the school and engaged the police officers deployed to the school for security, in a gun battle.
