Opinion: Igbo People Should Be Careful Before We Sink Deeper Into The Abyss Of Destruction

BEFORE WE SINK DEEPER INTO THE ABYSS OF DESTRUCTION When Aburi Accord could not stand, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu jetted out of the country and was granted asylum. Not less than 5million Igbos were slaughtered between 1967 and 1970. Anybody who thinks that Biafra can be realised by a protracted arm struggle or churning out propaganda from outside the country is making the worst mistake ever.

Major factors that led to declaration of Biafra in 1967

History The idea for secession of the former Eastern Nigeria as an Independent Republic of Biafra or Sovereignty State of Biafra should be said to have began immediately after the counter coup of July 29, 1966; and the Pogrom or Igbo genocide which followed thereafter. All these events were the immediate actions that led to the clamour for the secession of Former Southeastern Nigeria by Major Gen. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu on May 30th, 1966 after the elders of the then former Eastern Nigeria proposed the motion.
