And that was around 5:07 pm in a commercial vehicle when they were attacked around Jakana, Maiduguri/ Damaturu highway.
Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, has undergone a power outage for nearly a year, as a result of incessant attacks on transmission towers by insurgents. The insurgents blew up the transmission towers, which supported and conveyed high-voltage power lines from Damaturu to Maiduguri and the power supply was affected in the capital city and few adjoining towns, including Bama.

A heavy exchange of gunfire has been reported to be going on between Nigerian security forces and ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists in Babangida, the headquarters of Tarmuwa Local Government council of Yobe State. According to Politics Nigeria, Boko Haram/ISWAP just launched an attack on residents of Babbangida, a town located 50 kilometres away from Dapchi, north-east of Damaturu, the state capital, where 110 students of the Government Girls Science Technical College were abducted in February 2018.
In Babangida, the headquarters of the Tarmuwa Local Government Council in Yobe State, a violent exchange of gunfire occurred between Nigerian security personnel and ISWAP/Boko Haram militants. Babangida is around 50 kilometres north of Damaturu, the state capital. Local sources claimed the rebels were engaged in a heavy fire fight with forces from Operation Hadin Kai.
