The Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi should not be blamed for his action to dump his former Party, Peoples Democratic Party PDP for the All Progressives Congress APC. It should be recalled that Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi dumped PDP for APC and three Governors also dumped the PDP for APC, after Umahi's defection.
Tomorrow, Monday, October 11, 2021, will be the first Monday after the South-East Governors made it known that the sit-at-home declared in the south eastern part of the country by the proscribed Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), would no longer be observed in the region.
The Southeast has been widely known for being a peaceful zone in Nigeria until recently, when we started recording several cases of attacks. The Ebonyi State Police Command has dragged three young men, all indigenes of Afikpo South LGA of Ebonyi State, to a High Court sitting in Afikpo, Ebonyi State for attempted murder, conspiracy and stealing. The suspects: Chukwuemeka Chima, Oko Eseni Oko (Secretary, Caretaker Committee of Amangwu Development Union) and Daniel Nnachi Agwu, were charged with the crime along with two others currently at large.

It is quite disheartening that even though IPOB had officially announced the cancellation of its Sit-at-home Order, the order is still being enforced by unknown criminals in the South East region. The shut down of most schools and businesses in the South East on Mondays as a result of fear of victimization, has made the South East Monday sit-at-home involuntarily feasible.
According to a report reaching us from various sources, the 135 Divisional Police Headquarters in Ohaukwu, Ebonyi State was attacked on Sunday night, and suspects were freed. An eyewitness who spoke with correspondents of OAK METRO said that the gunmen fired sporadically before releasing the detained suspects.

The reports had it that the attack took place around 2.00am, however, the gallant police officers on duty at the station were able to repel the attack and kill one of the attackers.
Four persons have been reportedly killed after operatives of the South-Eastern security outfit, Ebubeagu invaded a community in Ebonyi State. The incident was said to have occurred in the Amasiri community of Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state over the weekend. It was gathered that members of the outfit, who stormed the community in five vehicles, shot at some youths on the allegation that they sealed off a Lebanese quarry company (Conrock) which was located in Amasiri.
