But thank God the leaders have decided to swallow shame and do the long awaited needful by organizing a family emergency meeting, compromising of all the South East Governors, and the leadership of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Enugu, for discussion on how to save their fathers' land from total elimination from the surface of the earth.
Igbokwe Replies Sen Abaribe, After He Said That They Don't Know Those Behind Killings In South East.
It was reported today that the senator representing the good people of Abia South Senatorial Zone, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe stated that they don't know those behind killings in the south east region of the country. He further made it known that the newly formed security outfit in the region, Ebube Agu Security Outfit is not working.
Recall: Some hours ago, it was reported that about 4 youths were killed by the South Eastern Security Outfit, Ebube-agu, in the Amasiri community in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. According to the report by the Punch Newspaper, the Ebube-agu security outfit stormed the community in 5 vehicles and killed 4 youths of the community after alleging that the youths sealed off a Lebanese quarry company.

A recent media report has it that a truck fully loaded with motorcycle spare parts worth millions of naira has been burnt by hoodlums in Enugu State for allegedly refusing to obey the IPOB sit-at-home order which has supposedly been suspended by the IPOB leadership. Firstly, IPOB stands for the Indigenous People of Biafra and it is a secessionist group that is dominant in the southeastern region of the country and they are agitating for the independence of Biafra nation.

The activities of Unknown Gunmen in the Southeast region has caused a lot of fear within the Southeastern States. These unknown gunmen have killed many people and destroyed numerous properties within the Southeast region., Also, the Nigerian military and security officers have been fighting against these unknown gunmen and some of them have been killed while their other members have been arrested.
A formal Ebonyi lawmaker has condemned the killing of a traditional ruler's daughter who was hit by a stray bullet in Ebonyi state. The incident happened in the Onicha Igboeze community in the Onicha local government of Ebonyi state. Tue deceased has been recognised as the daughter of a traditional ruler, Ezeogo Oshimiri Agwu, she died after she was hit by a stray bullet from the South Eastern security operatives.
The South-East region has been a hotbed for criminal activities in recent months, as several Police stations, law courts and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices have been destroyed by arsonists. Innocent people have been killed and has lost their properties to the cruel animals, disguising as human beings.
As the rate of insecurity keeps increasing, there have been major concerns about it both among the elites and the masses. And in a swift response geared towards finding a permanent solution to it, the Governors of the five States and other stakeholders held an emergency meeting in Enugu the capital of Enugu State on Tuesday.￼
The activities of Unknown Gunmen in the Southeast region have caused a lot of tension and problems in some states. These unknown gunmen have attacked political leaders and prominent people in the Southeast region. Recently, Unknown Gunmen killed about three traditional rulers in Imo state. The traditional rulers were having a meeting at Njaba local council headquarters at Nnenasa when the unknown gunmen attacked them and killed 3 traditional rulers (Obi 1 of Okwudor autonomous community, Eze Anayochukwu Durueburuo and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebineowerre autonomous community).
EbubeAgu, which means fear of a lion in Ibo, is fashioned after the Southwest security outfit, Amotekun, launched early last year amidst furor from the security institutions. Ebube Agu, with its headquarters in Enugu, is charged with the responsibility to coordinate all the activities of vigilantes in the Southeast, and to checkmate rising unrest in the region.
The level of insecurity in Nigeria at the moment is quite alarming. Though the country has always been embattled by insurgency, the insecurity condition has gotten worse in recent times. It appears the situation has overwhelmed the Nigeria security forces and the government at the federal level seems to have run out of ideas on how to effectively contain insecurity.

For the past few months, it seems likely that the attacks in the south-eastern part of Nigeria have continued to increase, despite numerous security measures that had been put in place. The region has experienced deaths of innocent people, destruction of properties, alongside security facilities.
Currently, insecurity has become one of the major issues facing the country at large. While the Northeast face the menace brought by Boko Haram terrorists, the Southeast alongside with other geo-political zones in the country face banditry, kidnapping, destruction of lives & properties and lots more.

EbubeAgu: Why I resigned as South-East Security committee Chairman- Umahi Major General Obi Umahi (retired), has resigned his appointment as the Chairman, South East Security Committee (EbubeAgu). According to Punch Newspaper, the Retired General was appointed by the south east Governors Forum on August 31, 2019.
The level of insecurity challenges in the south-eastern part of Nigeria is not something anyone should play with. South-South governors have approved a joint regional security outfit, just like Amotekun and Ebube Agu of the south-west and south-east region, respectively. The five governors of the south-south states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers took the decision at the meeting of the BRACED (south-south) Governors Council held at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday 4 October.
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has declined calls to take over the newly formed security outfit in the south east, Ebube Agu, citing lack of logistics. The Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro made this disclosure yesterday, Thursday. According to a statement that was released by the group, they made it known that there have been calls by some prominent Igbo people for the Ohanaeze to take over the newly formed security outfit.
JUSUN Suspends Strike The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN has felt the need to suspend the Nationwide Strike. Earlier today, the Group released a statement confirming the suspension of the Nationwide Strike that started two months ago. According to the statement, all JUSUN members are expected to resume work on Monday, 14th June, 2021.
