Prior to the civil war, the people in what are now Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Delta (Aniocha, Oshimili, Ika and Ndokwa areas), Imo, Enugu, and Rivers (Egbema, Ikwere, Ahoada, Obio-Akpo, Emuoha, Oyigbo, and Etche areas) states were all considered ethnically Igbo.

Imo state government recovers 43 oil wells

The Imo state government named the areas where 43 oil wells were recovered from Rivers State yesterday, stating that 22 oil wells were recovered from the Mgbede Field in Egbema, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, and 21 oil wells were recovered. While providing some clarifications on the recovered oil wells, the government revealed to newsmen in Owerri through the Senior Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Stamford Nwokedi.
