Youths in the country are commemorating the first anniversary of EndSARS, a protest movement against police brutality that rocked major cities across the country. Initially, the EndSARS protest was aimed at ending the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit, SARS, who were notorious for extortion, torture, and extrajudicial killings.
Flyers and posts are circulating the social media platforms that there would a general protest in memory of October 20, 2020 Endsars protest. A popular Nigerian human right activist, businessman and author Omoyele Sowore is among those who are supporting the protest that is scheduled to hold on October 20, 2021.
Some Nigerians are reportedly planning to stage protest as an anniversary of the EndSARS protest that rocked Nigeria last year. That EndSARS protest held in October last year. It was one of the biggest protests that shook the whole Nigeria and attracted global attention. It trended as number one on Twitter thereby persuading world renown celebrities, footballers, politicians and other influential people to talk about it and declare their stand.

At least 2 persons have been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force this morning during the #EndSARS memorial that is currently being observed by Nigerian youths across the different states of the country. According to BBC Pidgin, one of the persons arrested claimed to be a journalist but probably did not have a means of identification with him, while the other individual could be seen in a white outfit with a placard that showed his intentions to start a protest.
