Ahead of the November 6, governorship poll in Anambra State, the federal government of Nigeria has been trying to ensure the election take place as scheduled. Anambra State has witnessed several attacks on government facilities and security formations across the state. Innocent people have also been killed in the attacks allegedly carried out by unknown gunmen.
It is no longer news that the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd. ), has said a total of 102 ex-Biafran soldiers granted presidential pardon have been captured for payment of gratuity and other emolument by the Military Pensions Board. He stated, "It will interest you to know that the Military Pensions Board just concluded the documentation of ex-Biafran service personnel totalling 102 who were pardoned by Mr. President.
The federal government and the Buhari-led administration have been criticized in some cases for the ongoing conflict and insecurity challenges ravaging the country, but Nigerians need to understand that President Buhari has promised to fight corruption and he will fulfill it before his tenure is over. The Buhari-led administration has also been accused of withholding the names and sponsors of Boko Haram from Nigerians.
Recently, there have been several speculations that, the federal government (FG) should engage in a dialogue with proscribed secession group, the independent people of Biafra (IPOB) over the violence and unrest surfacing in the south-eastern region of the country. Yesterday, after the national executive council meeting in Abuja, The attorney general of the federation, Malami, while addressing the newsmen, said that the FG is considering declaring a state of emergency in Anambra.
For some time now, the agitations for self-determnation by the members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) have been giving the government and the masses sleepless nights. And the agitators have been further aggressed since the controversial arrest and repatriation of Nnamdi Kanu who is their leader from Kenya over two months ago.
On Wednesday, Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State explained the need why Federal Government should declare bandits as terrorists, and revealed a vital step he took in 2017. According to him, tagging them terrorists would allow the military to kill and deal with them within international law without any major consequences.
As the insecurity rises in Anambra, in which the unknown gunmen that many people believe to be IPOB are unleashing many brutal attacks on the citizens, the cops and soldiers, and burning down the gunmen's facilities. This is one of the reasons that pushed the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, to suggest that the FG might declare a state of emergency in Anambra if the incessant attacks don't stop because it seems that the level of insecurity in the state has passed something that Governor Obiano can handle.

6The executive governor of Kaduna State Gov Nasir El-Rufai, has called on the Federal Government to declare bandits as terrorists or insurgents to enable the Nigerian military deal with them accordingly. The governor who spoke at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna yesterday haven't received the security report for third quarter from the commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said declaring bandits in the Northwest region of the country as terrorists or insurgents would enable the Nigerian military to kill them (the bandits) without fear of consequences in the international law.
