Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe is dead. He died on Sunday in Lagos of suspected COVID-19 complications. Details of his death are still sketchy but the professor of systems engineering reportedly died in an undisclosed hospital on Sunday. He died at the age of 71 years. The 2020 JAMB policy meeting was held on the 15th and 16th of June, 2020. The Vice-chancellors of different universities, Rectors of polytechnics and Provosts of Colleges of Education were all present at the meeting. The meeting was necessary as it was aimed to set out modalities for the 2020/2021 admission into higher institutions in the Nigeria. The death of Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe is a colossal loss to the academic community, government and the country. I sympathise with students and staff of the University of Lagos, First Technical University and the National Universities Commission on his demise.
