Gratefully, the people of Southeastern Nigeria, Anambra state in particular, could finally heave a sigh of relief as the newly launched Exercise Golden Dawn begin operations to neutralise the operatives of unknown gunmen, that have kept the people of Anambra state on their toes with their nefarious activities.

The newly formed operational units will tackle criminal elements and help douse tension in affected regions in the country including the South-East region.
For several days, unknown gunmen have been striking the Southeast, especially in Anambra state. In Anambra state, the terrible gang has been wreaking havoc, killing innocent people, and destroying security operations offices. According to reports, unidentified gunmen burned down Joe Igbokwe's home.
After the brutal killings and arson perpetrated by unknown gunmen in Imo state earlier this year, followed by a period of relative calm, it appears that insecurity has once again reared its ugly head in the Southeast. In Anambra state recently, the criminals, suspected to belong to the Indigenous People of Biafra, have gone around wrecking havoc.

Troops of Sector 5 of Exercise GOLDEN DAWN deployed in Enugu, have neutralised three unknown gunmen who attacked a Nigerian Police checkpoint along Okija-Onitsha expressway on 7 October 2021. The gallant troops engaged and overwhelmed the gunmen with superior firepower, forcing them to flee the scene. Troops however gave them a hot pursuit, and engaged the gunmen in a gun duel.
The Gov. Of Imo State, Gov. Hope Uzodinma has Inaugurated the 'Operation Golden Dawn' in Imo State. He went further to asked the military agencies to secure live and properties of Imo people. Prior to this inauguration, we should recall that they military authorities has launched a special military operation termed 'Operation Golden Down" in eastern part of Nigeria.

Exercise Golden Dawn was launched in Enugu State to tackle insecurity in the South East, while Exercise Still Water was flagged off in the South-South and Exercise Enduring Peace was launched in the South West.
The insecurity crisis in Nigeria is becoming worrisome and unbearable which has forced the government to come up with other strategic measures to deal with it. Following the recent launching of 3 special operations in 3 different regions of the country, the operation Golden Dawn, which was launched in the South East region, has been condemned by some residents and the people of IPOB. The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Faruk Yahaya, had announced the launching of operations "Enduring Peace" for the north, "Still Water" for the coastal areas, and "Golden Dawn" for the south east.
