The governors under the umbrella of the south-south governors forum had reportedly disclosed its readiness on launching a regional security outfit. They also resolved that the governments of the states in the region would join in the suit challenging the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) by state governments.
South-South governors have approved a joint regional security outfit, just like Amotekun and Ebube Agu of the south-west and south-east region, respectively. The five governors of the south-south states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers took the decision at the meeting of the BRACED (south-south) Governors Council held at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday 4 October.
