The security situation in Imo State, can be best described a chaotic, regardless of Governor Hope Uzodinma's effort to ensure the safety of Imolites and their properties. In my opinion, Governor Hope needs to make use of non-coercive means, to achieve peace in Imo State.
Indeed, a good name is better than silver and gold. More than 12 months after Honourable Emeka Ihedioha was removed as the Governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court, many Imolites still love and respect him. It is important to note that Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, governed Imo State for only 7 months, hence, non-imolites may wonder what he achieved within such a short time, that would keep his memory fresh in the minds of the good people of Imo State.
Indeed, Governor Hope Uzodinma is doing his best in Imo State, however, he seems not to be as appreciated by his people, as he should.You may recall that Supreme Court removed Honourable Emeka Ihedioha as governor and replaced him with Governor Hope Uzodinma and many Imolites were not in support of him.
Uzodinma Declares Last Saturday In June As Imo Youth Day After Empowering 15k Youths With N250k Each
It should be remembered that the Imo State Government under the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, had trained 15,000 young Imolites under various skills, and promised to empower them with start-up capital. Well, this promise was fulfilled yesterday(26th June 2021), when the Governor of State, Senator Hope Uzodinma flagged off the payment of start-up grants to the 15,000 youths to the tune of N250,000 per beneficiary under the Imo State Youth Employment program.
Yesterday, Chief Hope Uzodimma, commissioned the three kilometers long, Alex Mbata road in Owerri.Alex Mbata, a businessman and modest philanthropist had deployed his personal funds to constructing a stretch of road "in support of Governor Uzodimma's Shared Prosperity mandate".Instead of due applause, The event was frowned upon by some Imolites.
Honourable Emeka Ihedioha is a force to reckon with in the Imo political scene.You may recall that Honourable Emeka Ihedioha was removed as governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court, was replaced with Hope Uzodinma, hence Ihedioha should be the major opposition party in Imo State.
The recent activities in Imo State, have cast a shadow of doubt on the leadership abilities of the present Imo goverment and many Imolites have become very vocal about it.You may recall that over the past two months, the crime rate in Imo State has escalated and the governor's rumoured temporary move to Abuja, was amplified by the media and this did not the Imo leadership any good, as they were perceived as weak.
The 2023 Imo Gubernatorial elections would be a very stiff one, as many powerful politicians in Imo State seem to be eyeing the Governorship sit.However, I'm of the opinion that Governor Hope Uzodinma may not win the election and here are some points to prove this.
After the Civil War, Imolites have not witnessed the kind of unrest as the have seen in recent time and this has brought so much fear to their hearts.Indeed, we have witnessed the attack of the correctional facility, Police Stations and the the presence of gunmen on the streets of Owerri.
On the Imo political scene, Honourable Emeka Ihedioha is a force to reckon with, as he has served as a representative in the House of Reps and as the Governor of Imo State.Indeed, his tenure ended abruptly due to the Supreme Court's ruling on the 14th of January, 2020, which saw Hope Uzodinma as the new Governor.
