Recall that Assimi Goita escaped being assassinated while offering Eid al-Adha prayers at the Grand Mosque in the capital, Bamako. The attacker "tried to assassinate the president with a knife," according to Religious Affairs Minister Mamadou Kone, according to the AFP news agency.
