The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has alleged the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) of working against the union. The allegation was made after JOHESU had issued a notice of 15- day ultimatum and commencement of an indefinite strike action by JOHESU. Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, the National President of JOHESU, in a statement, objected a memo by NMA which was addressed to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, which according to Josiah, was proof of NMA's hatred for JOHESU.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has reportedly called off its two-month-long strike, Newspremises reports. Newspremises recalls that the doctors, in August, embarked on strike after a disagreement with the Federal Government over the non-availability of medical equipment at public tertiary hospitals. In a statement signed by the Nigerian Medical Association, Secretary-General Ekpe Philips Uche, after the meeting held among delegates of NMA and NARD on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in Abuja, the NMA advised NARD to halt the ongoing industrial action.
