A coalition group of Northern elders under the umbrella of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has come out to tackle the recent decision of the Southern governors that the next president of the country must come from the South. It is no longer news that the 16 southern governors had convoked a closed-door meeting in Lagos state yesterday where they brought up a communique which agreed that the next president of Nigeria come 2023 must emerge from the South.
The discordant tunes coming from Southern Governors Forum and Northern Elders Forum do not augur well for the unity and harmony of the country. It will be recalled that the southern governors issued a communique at the end of their Enugu meeting, stating, among other things, that the President of Nigeria must come from Southern Nigeria in 2023.

For sometime now, Nnamdi Kanu has led the Indigenous people of Biafra and the ESN operatives who claim to stand against the evil activities of killer herdsmen.
Different groups in Nigeria especially in the Northern Nigeria are beginning to speak against the agitations going on in the Southern Nigeria especially in the South East. Few days ago, the Northern Consensus Forum came out to speak against those agitating for secession. Even some Northern women protested in Abuja last week over the same issue.
Northern Elders Forum reacted to the closure of markets, telecommunications networks in Zamfara, and others made by some Northern governors to curb growing insecurity within those areas. States such as Zamfara, Niger, and Kaduna had ordered the closure of markets, schools, restricted sale of petroleum into jerrycans, banning of movement cows, and others.
