Recently, police operatives in Abia State arrested a young boy of 17-year-old by name of Obinna Nwatu for allegedly faking his kidnapping so that he could extort some cash from his mother, Mrs Rose Nwatu, whom he claims is stingy. According to reports from Instablog9ja, the secondary schoolboy had lodged a hotel back in September 2021 and with the help of an accomplice, he was able to contact his mom to demand the alleged sum of six million naira ransom.

Wisdom Nwatu of Obikabia in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State reported that his younger brother, Obinna Nwatu, a 17-year-old male who is in senior secondary school 3 (SSS3), was kidnapped. He said the incident took place along the stadium road, carried out by unknown hoodlums operating on the ash-coloured Sienna.
