Saudi Arabia has restricted the use of loudspeakers in mosques. The sheikhs of the kingdom agreed to restrict the use of loudspeakers after they had received several request from the Arabians. The announcement was made by the Saudi Minister for Religious Affairs, Abdullatif Al-Sheikhs. Al-Sheiks revealed in his statement that the use of loudspeakers to call for prayers is a modern practice since it was derived from Sharia.
