Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said he will not withdraw the lawsuits against the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, because he does not trust the chairman to honour agreements. The Rivers state governor said this in a meeting with the Senator David Mark-led committee set up by the PDP National Executive Committee to resolve the party’s crisis.
The National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP may not hold as earlier scheduled. It should be recalled that the National Caucus of the Party has Proposed October 30 or 31 for the elective Position of the National Convention of the Party. However, the National Convention of the Party may be Cancel or Postponed indefinitely due to inability of the Party Leaders to settle the Crisis rocking the Party.
The major opposition party's plan to hold national convention in October seems unrealistic with the current defiance of Governor Wike and the embattled national chairman, Uche Secondus to withdraw court cases they both instituted. For some months, the party has been enmeshed in serious crisis which is capable of relegating the party into a political dungeon and cremation.
