All the governors from the Southern part of Nigeria meet in Enugu on Thursday to discuss the challenges and solutions to the problems facing the region and the entire nation. Unfortunately, out of the 17 governors in the region, only nine Governors were present at the meeting, seven Governors were represented by the Deputy Governors, while a Governor refused to attend and also refused to send a representative.
Mr. Seyi Makinde may have done very well how he governs Oyo State. The people may prefer him to a large extent, but there are two leaders of the All Progressives Congress that he may not be able to defeat if they contest again him in the next gubernatorial election in Oyo State.
It is no more news that Governor Seyi Makinde may contest 2023 Presidential race under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. However, The Governor may not get the support of Some Party Leaders, the way he got it in 2019. It should be recalled that Governor Makinde won the 2019 Governorship Polls with the help of some opposition Leaders in the State.
One mistake Gov. Makinde is making in Oyo State that could cause PDP the gubernatorial seat in 2023.
The next general election in the country will be coming up by 2023. Though it still looks far, political parties and even politicians are doing the necessary and strategic planning to become victorious in whichever political position they seek to occupy. Hence, any political mistake that is made now may cause a political party or a politician the chance to achieve victory at the polls in 2023.
