Attacks on police stations in the South-East region of Nigeria continued on Monday as unknown gunmen attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters situated in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Bandits Abduct Passengers In Niger The Police Command in Niger on Wednesday confirmed the abduction of 13 passengers by gunmen at Konar Barau village of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Monday Kuryas, confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna, the state capital.
About 49 villagers were said to have been killed after bandits opened fire on villagers at a market located in Goronyo town, the Goronyo local government area of Sokoto State. According to reports made available by Saharareporters, the bandits who came in large numbers rounded up villagers in the market on Sunday evening and opened fire on them leading to the death of some villagers, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were reportedly taken to the General Hospital, Sabon Birni for necessary medical treatment.

Sokoto North Central Senator, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has condemned the killing of 43 people at Goronyo Market in Sokoto State on Sunday. Bashar Abubakar, the special assistant to the senator on media, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday said the lawmaker described the attack as barbaric and ruthless.
Governor Abdullahi Waziri Tambuwa of Sokoto State has reportedly written to the Federal Government of Nigeria to suspend the blockage of telecommunication network services that was recently imposed on 14 Local Government Area of the state. According to him, the suspension of the blockage became necessary in view of concerns expressed by security outfits in the state that "the blockage was seriously affecting the smooth conduct of their legitimate endeavours."
