Southeast leaders kick against calls for secession Leaders of the South East geopolitical zone, have said the people are not disposed to the call for secession from Nigeria. The leaders hinted that no other tribe has demonstrated belief and commitment to the unity of the country more than the southeast.
President of Igboekulie, a pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Prince Ben Onuora, has called on Nnamdi Kanu to listen to the leaders in the South East region and give peace a chance. Ben Onuora who was filling questions from Sun Newspaper in an exclusive interview said there is absolutely no need for two security outfits in the South East.
Igbo watch also took to their verified facebook page to share the statement of the southeast leaders , about reaffirming their ban on open grazing in the region, and also stating that they are committed to a united Nigeria. There was a security meeting yesterday in Enugu state, which was attended by the security chiefs in Nigeria, where they met with the 5 Southeast Governors and other leaders from the region.
Buhari Approves Return Of Open Grazing The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari has given approval to the return of the open grazing practised during the 1st Republic where herdsmen used designated grazing routes to move their cattle to several parts of the country. To this end, the President said he had asked the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to begin the process of recovering land from persons who have converted cattle grazing routes for their personal use.

The deputy president of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural group, Mr. Vitus Uzor has today come out to express the thoughts of the group towards the raging insecurity and terrorist attacks which seem to have grasped its hold in the Southeast. According to his statement, Chief Uzor lamented how the region is gradually turning into a ground for terrorist activities especially in Imo state, as he went further to disclose how the state which was once recognized as one of the peaceful states in the East has turned into a battleground considering the activities of the unknown gunmen in the state, and how the military has been launching reprisal attacks to neutralize these terrorists and reduce the tension in the state to its barest minimum.
The Igbo Elders Council, IEC has lamented over the ongoing battle in the Southeast and is accusing the Nigerian Military of killing and detaining innocent Igbo youths in the Southeast. This was contained in a Communique signed by some eminent Igbo leaders after their meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
