According to a report by SaharaReporters, the efforts of the military offensive against bandits in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Sokoto has yielded results on Sunday, after joint Task Forces (JTF) which consist of the police and the military, ambushed 32 fleeing bandits from Zamfara State forests camps at Danjibga and Munhaye in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State to Niger State and killed them.
The level of insecurity in the northern region is worrisome. Bandits are terrorizing innocent Nigerians in the North West and North Central while Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents wreak havoc in the North East. School kidnapping has become a typical occurrence in the area. Because of the operations of armed bandits, several schools in rural areas have been closed.
Abdulaziz Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, has had a relative kidnapped by bandits. Auwal Hussain, Yari's brother-in-law, was kidnapped during the infiltration of his home in Talata Marafa. Hussain and a neighbor were kidnapped on Monday night by motorcycle-riding criminals, but the story didn't reach the public until Thursday evening.
